West Brom stun Chelsea

Chelsea 2-5 West Brom: Ruthless Baggies end Tuchel's unbeaten record after Silva sees red - myKhel
West Brom enjoyed a day of days at Stamford Bridge

Premier League resumed early on Saturday with West Brom’s visit to Chelsea. Fairly easy afternoon for the Blues was forecasted, instead, a red card for Thiago Silva at the half-hour mark turned the match on its head. Braces from Matheus Pereira and Callum Robinson helped the Baggies to an astounding 5-2 win at Stamford Bridge. This was Thomas Tuchel’s first defeat as Chelsea’s manager and the first time they conceded at home under him. The defeat gave the chasing pack an opportunity to close the gap on Chelsea.

West Ham moved into the top-four with a 3-2 win at Wolves on Monday. The visitors raced into a 3-0 lead thanks to Jesse Lingard, Pablo Fornals and Jarrod Bowen. It was a sense of Déjà vu for the Hammers after goals from Leander Dendoncker and Fabio Silva threatened a comeback. But this time they held on to see out a crucial win and climb back into the top four.

Champions back to best at Arsenal

Later on Saturday, Manchester City took another step towards their coronation with a 2-0 win at Leicester. Second half strikes from Benjamin Mendy and Gabriel Jesus were enough to secure a comfortable win. This means Man City now require four more wins to pocket their third title in four years. Meanwhile, the outgoing champions looked back to their best as they strolled to a 3-0 win at Arsenal. Liverpool were dominant right from the start but had to wait until the second half to mark their superiority. Two Diogo Jota goals sandwiched a Mo Salah goal to move the Reds within three points of fourth-placed West Ham.

The early kick-off on Sunday saw Southampton come from behind to win 3-2 against Burnley. After going 2-0 down to a Chris Wood penalty and a Matej Vydra strike, goals from Stuart Armstrong and Danny Ings levelled the matters at half-time. Nathan Redmond then completed the comeback in the second half.

Spurs missed the chance to jump back into the top-four after a late Joe Willock goal sealed a 2-2 draw at Newcastle. The Magpies took the lead through Joelinton but two quickfire Harry Kane goals immediately turned the match around. The point keeps Newcastle three points above Fulham, who were leading at Aston Villa with 15 minutes to go but ended up losing 3-1. A brace from substitute Trezeguet and an Olie Watkins goal in a nine-minute frenzy turned the match around. In the late kick-off, Manchester United consolidated their grip on second position with a come-from-behind 2-1 win at home to Brighton.
