On Sunday, Mohamed Salah opened the scoring in a comfortable afternoon for the Reds. That goal was his 100th in the Premier League, becoming the 30th member to join this elite club. He also became the fifth fastest to reach this milestone, behind only Alan Shearer, Harry Kane, Sergio Aguero and Thierry Henry. Not only that, he is also the second African to score a century of goals, only behind Chelsea legend Didier Drogba, who has 104. Considering Salah is a winger, achieving these feats is truly remarkable.
But as he finally reached the holy grail of 100 goals, there are a few more itching to get to that landmark.
Sadio Mané – 97 goals
Salah’s teammate Sadio Mané is on 97 goals, and you would expect him to reach 100 soon. The Senegalese has already scored two this season and should expect to get the three he needs in the coming weeks itself. Of course, Mané started his career at Southampton, where he scored 21 goals before making the move to Merseyside. During his time at St. Mary’s, he scored the fastest ever hat-trick in the Premier League against Aston Villa.
Raheem Sterling – 97 goals
Another man with Liverpool connections will be looking to get the job done well within this season. Sterling was close to leaving Man City this summer and has had limited game time with the arrival of Jack Grealish. He has started just one league game but scored as a substitute against Norwich. Sterling started as a teenager for Liverpool, scoring 18 goals for the Reds and came close to winning the title in the 2013/14 season. However, he made the switch to City and has won plenty of titles since then.
Cristiano Ronaldo – 86 goals
It’s a bit surprising Ronaldo isn’t already a centurion, but that’s because he left Man United for Real Madrid before he peaked. He’s back now after 12 years and with the way he’s started, it won’t be long before he adds yet another record to his name. CR7 has already scored two in one appearance, and scoring 14 more is a matter of when, not if.
