Premier League released the fixtures for the brand new season. Champions Man City begin their title defense away at Spurs. The Citizens have emerged victorious in each of their last 10 opening fixtures. The last time they failed to win on the opening day was in 2010, a 0-0 draw at Tottenham.
Promoted Norwich City face Liverpool in their first match, as they did the last time they were promoted in 2019. The Canaries will look to improve on that meeting two years ago, though this time they are the hosts. Brentford begin their first ever Premier League campaign at home to Arsenal. Watford host Aston Villa on their return after a season’s absence.
Leeds United, who started last campaign with a trip to Liverpool, travel to rivals Manchester United this time. The corresponding fixture last season produced a 6-2 score-line, and goals could be on the cards once again. Chelsea are involved in a London derby on matchweek 1. Crystal Palace, who are manager-less at the moment, travel to Stamford Bridge.
Elsewhere, Newcastle face West Ham in a repeat of last season’s opening fixture. Burnley entertain Brighton, while Southampton travel to Goodison Park to face Everton. FA Cup winners Leicester City host Wolves on the opening weekend.
The 2021/22 Premier League season starts on 14th August. If things go in order, we could have fans (home and away) back in the stadiums from the start.
